Listen to the simple, humble stories of Mother (the real-life inspiration for the character Hong in “Red Rain”), to better understand the resilience of the local people.
Noon	Simple, Soul-Warming Local Flavors Enjoy a savory Central Vietnamese lunch at a local restaurant. Today, we’ll try simple but distinctive local dishes like Mai Xa Mussel Noodle Soup (Bún Hến Mai Xá) or a braised fish in a clay pot (cá đồng kho tộ).
Afternoon	Underground Wonders & The Aspiration for Unification We travel to Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River (The 17th Parallel) – the site of painful division. Standing between the two banks, watching the national flag fly, you will profoundly sense the value of peace. Next, explore the Vinh Moc Tunnels – “The Village Living Underground”. This legendary structure is a testament to the unyielding will to survive of the Quang Tri people against the bombardment. Before checking in to rest, we will spend a solemn moment at the Truong Son National Martyrs’ Cemetery. A moment of silence to pay tribute to the past generations.
Evening	Check-in to Hotel/Homestay in Dong Ha. Night – Exploring Dong Ha After Dark Dinner at a local restaurant. Free time to stroll around, try the famous Quang Tri ‘Cháo Vạt Giường’ porridge, or sip coffee by the river. Dong Ha at night is peaceful and wonderfully ordinary.
DAY 2: LEGENDARY HIGHWAY 9 – THE START OF NEW EXPERIENCES
Morning	Conquering the Historical Route Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then check out. The coach will take us along the legendary Highway 9 – the vital route that has become part of history. We will stop at a Coffee Shop with a Beautiful Mountain View along the way. This is the ideal spot to breathe the fresh Truong Son air and take unique check-in photos. Arrive at the Ta Con Airport (Khe Sanh) Relic Site – the infamous military base. Explore the museum, the old runway, and artifacts to feel the atmosphere of the battlefield of the past. A surprising relaxation point: Visit Trosie Garden. Enjoy the lush green space, admire the Sapa Ancient Rose Garden, and take countless impressive photos (”sống ảo”) amidst the mountains and forests.
Noon	Tastes of the Western Truong Son Region Lunch and savoring mountain specialties at a local restaurant. You must try the Buffalo Meat with Trơng Leaves (Thịt Trâu Lá Trơng), a signature dish of Quang Tri.
Afternoon	Footprints at the Border Explore the Lao Bao Prison – the “Hell on Earth” which marks the indomitable will of the revolutionary soldiers. Stop at the Lao Bao International Border Gate. Enjoy the bustling trade atmosphere, take a unique “border check-in” souvenir photo, and shop at the duty-free commercial zone.
